The Non-Ending Non-Winter

The wx these past couple of months have been very interesting.  Snow to north of me, (snow) jokers to my south and west, and here I am, stuck in the middle of the "snow hole" with you!  While KMDT did avoid the bulk of the snowfalls, (c'mon do 1" snowfalls even count?), we did not evade the cold air masses that have had their eyes on the CONUS east of the Rockies.  One thing that is a near certainty, the cold will hold and be something to behold for this time of year as we approach APRIL! Look at these temp anomalies for an entire week ending Easter Monday!  Unreal!  And this is normalized over SEVEN DAYS!
But the primary reason I came out of hibernation is that there is a very interesting winter wx event brewing for late Sunday into Monday.  I do believe that there is at least a 50-50 shot of us receiving our largest accumulating snow of the season during this time period.  The most bullish O Canadian model as well as the GFS and to a somewhat lesser extent, the Euro all create an accumulating snowfall for our region later Sunday into Monday.  Here is the O Canadian latest run...
The GFS also has the band of snow, but a bit further to the south and a slightly less phased solution...
The Euro says plenty cold for snow...the purple line is essentially the rain-snow line...
And although there is no output map for snowfall, here is the surface low pressure located over OSU! This is a classic set-up for overrunning precip into the established cold air over PA.
Although somewhat sheared and elongated, the Euro ensembles have the 500 mb low in a prime-time location for some rather dicey wx in these parts should that map verify!  Time will tell...But I for one am beginning to grow weary of this winter cold.  I'm looking forward to warmer spring breezes, Easter flowers from years gone by push up through the cold soggy soils.  I'm looking forward to a greenish hue on both the lawns and the forests' trees. However, I might be stuck with yet again...dare I say..."A Whiter Shade of Pale" both in the leaden wintry skies as well as the fields and forests if these models verify for early next week.  So I'll leave y'all with this classic from May 1967 from Procol Harum...ENJOY!
And enjoy your weekend.  With the March Madness tourney and MLB a week from opening the regular season, let's remember that one of our Mid-Penn playmates will be vying for PIAA gold in the AAAA girls basketball championship game in Hershey.  Good luck to the Cumberland Valley girls and Coach Wolf on their quest for basketball supremacy this Friday evening.  And good luck to the atmosphere in trying to re-arrange the pattern so that spring can be "just around the corner" like that rodent promised SEVEN WEEKS AGO!
May your brackets serve you well (and your fantasy baseball draft, too)!

AA:  Looking for spring, but it is NOWHERE to be found! Possible accumulating snow for Sunday night into Monday!  Hoping for a solid fantasy baseball draft...
